Global Payments Returns to the MORE THAN PINK WALK in a New Way to Provide Support Necessary to Fund Breast Cancer Research, Care, Treatment and Education in Metro Atlanta

ATLANTA (January 16, 2020) – Susan G. Komen® Greater Atlanta, metro Atlanta’s leading local resource for breast cancer screening, diagnostic and support services, today announced Global Payments Inc. as this year’s local presenting sponsor of Komen Atlanta’s MORE THAN PINK Walk. The MORE THAN PINK Walk brings together an empowered community of hope to raise funds for breast cancer services, patient support, education and lifesaving research.

“Every one of us knows someone who has been impacted by this terrible disease; they are our mothers, wives, sisters and daughters, and we want people to know they are not alone,” said Jeff Sloan, CEO, Global Payments Inc. “This Walk unites individuals who are on an incredibly hard journey and helps fund research and provide care and support. We are delighted to support Komen Atlanta’s mission to create a world without breast cancer as we further our commitment to the communities in which we live and work.”

“Global Payments has been involved with the MORE THAN PINK WALK (formerly known as the Race for the Cure) since 2015, and we are thrilled they have decided to return this year as the local presenting sponsor,” said Cati Diamond Stone, CEO, Komen Atlanta. “Global Payments is committed to making a difference in the lives of others, and its continued investment in Komen Atlanta’s work will make a big impact in the fight against breast cancer in Atlanta and beyond.”

In 2019, Global Payments had the largest team with 266 members at the MORE THAN PINK WALK and raised more than $40,000, the most by any participating team.

“This annual event not only celebrates the strength and courage of breast cancer survivors, but provides encouragement to those who are battling this horrible disease,” said Stacy Hughes, Senior Vice President, IT Governance, Risk and Compliance, Global Payments and Komen Atlanta Board Member. “As a breast cancer survivor, I am honored that my company is passionate about helping to find a cure.”

This year’s Walk will be held on May 2, 2020 at Lenox Square in Buckhead. In 2019, Komen Atlanta’s MORE THAN PINK Walk raised more than $950,000. The funds raised were used to provide services to patients in Atlanta, such as mammograms and diagnostic tests and to fund cutting-edge breast cancer research. To date, Komen Atlanta has invested $38 million in support of the metro Atlanta community and $10 million in breast cancer research.

Registration for Komen Atlanta’s MORE THAN PINK Walk has launched with a $10 early bird rate for the month of January. Visit www.komenatlanta.org/walk for more information.
