Atlanta One of Only Four Cities Selected to Premier More Than Pink Walk

New Name/Approach Improves Experience and Connection to Komen’s Life-Saving Work

Atlanta – January 8, 2017 – Susan G. Komen Greater Atlanta has been chosen as one of only four Komen affiliates to unveil a completely new approach to the traditional annual Race for the Cure. The organization’s largest fundraiser since 1991 is now the Susan G. Komen More Than Pink Walk and will be held May 5 at Lenox Square Mall.

The More Than Pink Walk will be an experience that involves, inspires and drives a more personal connection to the breast cancer movement. The evolution reinforces the organization’s movement is more than a color; it is a proactive call to do more in the fight against breast cancer. The Walk will bring the community together to fundraise and learn about Komen’s key pillars of eradicating breast cancer: action, research, care and community.

The More Than Pink Walk will better connect the public to the contribution they’re making on Komen Atlanta’s work to save lives and accomplish the organization’s Bold Goal – to reduce the number of breast cancer deaths by 50% in the U.S. by 2026.

“The metro Atlanta community is More Than Pink, and we feel confident the Walk will inspire the metro Atlanta community to want to do more,” said Cati Diamond Stone, Komen Atlanta Executive Director. Stone adds, “…MORE for research, MORE for our community, MORE for caring for those living with breast cancer – especially metastatic breast cancer – and MORE action to find the cures.”

The Komen Atlanta More Than Pink Walk is an opportunity to come together as a community to support families, friends and neighbors. Funds raised by the Walk will provide breast health and breast cancer services for those who cannot afford them and will fund cutting-edge research to find the cures.

The More Than Pink Walk is more than a fundraiser. It’s a powerful movement taking place across metro Atlanta. To register and fundraise, visit
