The Good Day Project Comes to Metro Atlanta

Every so often, Komen Atlanta has the pleasure of introducing our partners to each other in order to further our collective work to improve breast cancer outcomes in metro Atlanta.  This summer, Ford Warriors in Pink (www.warriorsinpink.ford.com) is teaming up with TurningPoint Breast Cancer Rehabilitation (www.myturningpoint.org) to bring more good days to local breast cancer patients in need of rehabilitation and exercise to improve their quality of life.  We are delighted to share more about their work together with you!

One in eight women is diagnosed with breast cancer, yet about a third of women still don’t even think about their breast health until it is mentioned by their doctor. Ford Warriors in Pink is committed to advancing the conversation of breast cancer and inspiring the next generation of warriors in the fight.

Ford has been part of the fight against breast cancer for 21 years. Each year, we ask, what more can we do to help those that are battling?

We know breast cancer patients have good days and bad days, so we are focusing on providing more good days. Through The Good Day Project, Ford Warriors in Pink is empowering people to find ways to support those that they love going through this disease.

Warriors in Pink is excited to be partnering with Meal Train and Lyft as part of The Good Day Project in Atlanta. Meal Train is an online platform that allows friends and families to organize meal deliveries for loved ones that are going through the battle. Through the Warriors in Pink project, we are actually making their enhanced service Meal Train Plus complimentary to users that come in through www.fordcares.com. These enhanced services allow friends and families to not only organize meals but also child care, errands, laundry, whatever might help the patient really focus on healing and not have to worry about running a household.

Lyft will help provide transportation services to TurningPoint, a non-profit 501(c)3 organization serving breast cancer patients in Greater Atlanta and advocating nationally about breast cancer survivorship issues. TurningPoint is thrilled to be selected to participate in Ford’s Warriors in Pink initiative. The mission of TurningPoint is to improve the quality of life for breast cancer patients through specialized, evidence based breast cancer rehabilitation and exercise. This aligns perfectly with the project’s goal to provide more “good” days for breast cancer patients.  Breast cancer patients are challenged with juggling many medical appointments as they navigate their breast cancer journey.  Assistance with transportation to access care in the clinic will allow many patients to include our specialized physical and massage therapy, counseling, consultations on exercise and nutrition and lymphedema management in their treatment plans.  TurningPoint was founded in 2003 to provide access to support care for all women, regardless of ability to pay.  The financial assistance program helps remove financial barriers to care for underserved patients and the Lyft assistance with transportation to appointments removes logistical barriers as well.

Thank you to Ford and Lyft for teaming up with TurningPoint to support breast cancer survivors – together we will make more good days possible!
